After the elimination of the federal individual mandate under the Affordable Care Act by Congress, Washington state is considering putting individual mandates in place at the state level.

The implementation of Washington’s individual mandates is to encourage health insurance enrollment. When healthy individuals are mandated to have health insurance, it helps them in much needed financial backup at times of medical emergencies.

Employer Responsibility for Washington Individual Mandates

Currently, the State of Washington has not officially released the requirements for reporting ACA Forms for the tax year 2023. Employers are required to report the health coverage information to Washington only if the individual State mandates.
